TITLE: Professional Mechanical Engineer
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering (from an ABET Accredited Institution) and 24 months of progressive experience in Engineer in Training – Mechanical Consulting Engineering in the HVAC and Plumbing industry required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Professional Engineer (PE) License – Mechanical Engineering and Engineer in Training (EIT) Credential.
JOB DUTIES: Project Management and Client Relations: (35%) Manage project scope, budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, presenting design solutions, and providing progress updates to maintain client satisfaction. Act as the primary mechanical engineering representative in multidisciplinary project teams, collaborating with external architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other consultants to ensure seamless integration of HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) and plumbing systems into overall project designs. Facilitate coordination meetings with external design firms, addressing design challenges, aligning project goals, and ensuring consistency across all disciplines involved in the project. Review and incorporate feedback from external team members, ensuring mechanical system designs align with architectural intent, structural constraints, and electrical requirements. Design Leadership and Oversight: (25%) Lead the design and development of HVACR and plumbing systems for residential and non-residential projects, ensuring compliance with energy codes, regulatory standards, and project-specific requirements. Review and finalize draft designs, load calculations, and system sizing prepared by EITs, providing detailed technical analysis and guidance, ensuring accuracy before client delivery. Prepare and approve detailed specification books and technical submittals for HVACR and plumbing systems, ensuring clarity and adherence to project needs. Approve and sign off as the responsible designer on SD (Schematic Design), DD (Design Development), CD (Construction Documentation), and building permit plans, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards. Construction and Project Administration: (20%) Oversee CCA (Construction Contract Administration) tasks, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs (Requests for Information), and conducting site visits to verify installations and ensure compliance with approved plans. Collaborate with contractors and construction teams to resolve field issues, ensuring smooth execution of the design intent. Engineering Reports and Documentation: (15%) Prepare detailed engineering reports to support design decisions and document project progress, ensuring all deliverables meet regulatory standards and client requirements. Review and finalize draft reports prepared by EITs, providing detailed technical insights and professional approval before distribution to stakeholders. Utilize data and simulation results prepared by EIT’s to compile comprehensive reports that clearly communicate design rationale and project compliance. Quality Assurance and Mentorship: (5%) Perform rigorous quality checks on all designs and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Mentor and supervise EITs and junior engineers, providing feedback and fostering professional growth. Develop and implement best practices to improve efficiency and maintain high-quality deliverables. Professional Accountability: Integrated across all responsibilities. Assume full responsibility for designs by signing and sealing documentation as the licensed Professional Engineer, ensuring accountabilities for all deliverables under professional and legal obligations. Maintain thorough knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, ensuring all signed documents meet or exceed industry standards.
SALARY: $99,653 per year.
TRAVEL DETAILS: Some travel required for site visits and meetings.
