TITLE: Tax Accountant
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in Professional Accountancy.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be a certified public accountant (CPA) who is licensed by the California Board of Accountancy. Must be a certified public accountant (CPA) who is licensed by the California Board of Accountancy.
JOB DUTIES: Prepare tax returns for individual and corporate clients and compute taxes they owe, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements. Analyze clients’ business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses and provide advice. Evaluate clients’ finances to determine tax liability and provide tax projections, using knowledge of interest and discount rates, loans, revenues and expenses, and amortization valuation of depletable assets. Verify and adjust journal and ledger entries, review accounting books and accounts for discrepancies, and reconcile differences. Prepare, analyze, or verify annual reports, financial statements, and other records, using accepted accounting and statistical procedures to assess financial condition and facilitate financial planning. Report to management of the corporate clients regarding the company’s financial status, significant changes, and potential risks. Assist and advise clients in all aspects of payroll accounting and employment benefits, such as compensation, wage deductions, employee health care benefits, tax withholding, or longrange tax plans. Represent clients before taxing authorities and provide support during litigation involving financial issues.
