TITLE: General Manager

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Plant Genetics or Related Field and 180 months of experience as Manager, General Manager, Sales Manager or related occupation required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Have an advanced level of written, spoken and listening/reading comprehension of English and Spanish (colloquial, business and seed industry). Knowledge of Marketing / Product Management, Strategic Planning, Market Understanding, Finance, Project Management, Seed Industry.

JOB DUTIES: Manage all operations of the company including planning and supervision of the seed production, seed processing and packaging, research and development with emphasis in advancing the proprietary breeding programs of melons an squash to develop the genetic traits projected to be needed by the markets, development of the genetics we license from external sources around the world, sales and marketing with a focus in expanding the business in the export markets of Central America and maintaining the business in our traditional markets of the Caribbean and the Middle East, supervising the administration of the company, ensuring a healthy cash flow and planning and executing initiatives which would lead to an improvement in the profitability.

SALARY: $159,037 to $160,000 per year.

JOB DUTIES: Meets revenue goals according to budget; Control costs: labor, direct operating expenses; Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance; Direct operating expenses budget oversight; Measures and manages productivity. Manages all operational employees including production, operators, fleet and facilities; staffing, onboarding support (handbook review), employee retention, safety and training, quality control; Establish, maintain and manage safety and training programs; Employee retention (ex. evaluations: 90 day/anniversary, employee understanding of policies/procedures, taking care of our people); Uphold company culture and standards; Maintain counseling procedure integrity: negative and positive; Ensure systems, processes and policies are being followed; Fill gaps in management. Ensure compliance for all state and regulatory requirements per DOT, OSHA and Insurance; PM and repairs to keep fleet at an operational capacity; DOT inspections; Employee driving status; CDL med physicals; Re-certification; Cleanliness and organization; Shop upkeep; Grounds and landscaping; Trash/litter/debris management… “clean work space” and “everything has a home”; Log yard management and organization; Parking for employees and guests to the business; Purchasing trucks, tools, supplies and equipment. Plans and organizes daily workflow organization, communication; Rain day plans and priorities of work for staff that IS working; Maintain compliance with personnel, facilities, fleet; Coordinates with other support departments to ensure smooth production operations.
