TITLE: Attorney
REQUIREMENTS: JD (Law, Legal Education or related field) or foreign equivalent or Masters in Law, Legal Education or related field is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: California Bar/Law License.
JOB DUTIES: Interview potential clients about detailed case information after intake clerks’ conflict of interest screening. Provide preliminary analysis of potential cases, evaluate the merits of civil claims and defenses. Converse with current clients, provide legal analysis of the cases, case strategies, legal options, and probable consequences based on laws and precedents. Conduct legal research on statutes, regulations, and case law, draft legal memoranda analyzing the issues, and make legal recommendations. Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, discovery responses, and correspondence with courts and opposing counsel. Prepare legal arguments for motions and hearings, assist in preparing witnesses, and select and present relevant evidence in support of the client’s position. Attend depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and pre-trial conferences under supervision. Negotiate with opposing counsel to reach settlement agreements or stipulations where appropriate. Hold case management conferences with other attorneys and legal assistants, set deadlines for tasks, and track case progress. Review discovery, evidence, and case documents for completeness and relevance, report to management about caseload and case progress, and communicate with clients about major steps in the case while addressing their feedback.
SALARY: $115,690 per year.
