TITLE: Urban Planner
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors’ Degree or higher in urban planning, urban studies, geography, policy, economics, regional planning, architecture or related fields.
JOB DUTIES: Identify and assess community planning priorities within San Francisco’s Chinatown. Analyze and draft responses to plans, proposals, or recommendations from San Francisco Planning Department, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, and other city or state agencies. Assess impact of proposed citywide projects on neighborhood merchants, residents and physical environment. Gather, analyze, and provide information/statistics on Chinatown neighborhood, such as demographics and trends. Collaborate with Planning Team and Program staff in defining the organization’s position on planning-related issues and in strategizing plan of action. Assist in writing grant proposals and grant reports to program funders as needed. Give public testimony to City agencies, civic committees, and neighborhood groups as needed. Provide planning context in advocacy efforts on issues significantly affecting Chinatown community. Develop, monitor, and maintain assigned project budgets. Track grants, write reports, apply for renewals with Planning Manager. Embody organization values (respect & compassion, empowerment, teamwork). Contribute to a safe and pleasant work environment. SALARY: $90,771 per year.
