TITLE: Associate Director, Network and Telecommunications
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in Information Systems and 6 months of experience working with IT network, Windows and Linux system administration including VOIP PBX with unified communications capabilities required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Extensive knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the GC and the SDA Church. In-depth knowledge of Linux Administration/Support, and applicable data privacy practices required. Ability to support and troubleshoot a large growing multi-user Asterisk-based or Freeswitch-based IP Phone network infrastructure. Thorough technical knowledge of network/PC operating systems including all Microsoft client, network operating systems, technical knowledge of current network hardware, software, protocols, switching, routing, security issues and other appropriate standards. Good understanding of MS Exchange Server, Send mail or other email servers required. Proven ability to effectively analyze, problem-solve, prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment in a professional and courteous manner. Must be user friendly, courteous, self-motivated with ability to complete tasks with little or no supervision, and have good English-language verbal and written communication skills. Ability to analyze and recommend technical solutions to problems. Must be fully service oriented with empowerment of the user as a top priority. Strong skills in providing support and maintaining high levels of communication with subordinates, users, and superiors. Position requires a high level of interactivity with all staff members in the World Headquarters. Requires attendance at regular committees and participation on ad hoc committees and work groups as requested. Also requires high degree of contact with outside vendors providing equipment, supplies, and outside services as needed. Must remain calm under pressure and exhibit courtesy, diplomacy and kindness at all times, both in person and on the telephone. Must exhibit ability to effectively handle confidential information/situations at all times and maintain high degree of loyalty & support for supervisor, department, GC and SDA church. Must be able to read, hear and speak. Must be able to effectively communicate in English both orally and in writing. Some standing, walking, bending, and moderate to heavy lifting is required. Inasmuch as incumbent is an exempt employee it is expected that individual will work the hours (no less than 38 hours per week) required to complete assignments. Some local/long-distance travel may be required. Essential responsibilities are performed primarily in sedentary and comfortable manner. Tasks are usually performed under normal office conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well-lighted and ventilated. Laptop may be issued to facilitate completion of work assignments.
JOB DUTIES: Manages and schedules assigned staff as needed to ensure proper management of assigned networks and platforms. Manages and operates the Cloud for the GC and participating entities worldwide. Serves as primary administrator of the GC’s Infrastructure, Unified Communications and Networking platform including cloud environments, servers, routers, switches, and UC Applications. Interfaces with Division IT personnel to coordinate infrastructure and shared resources needs. Advises Division IT personal about cloud and telecom infrastructure security and best practices. Configures, manages, and updates the IP Communications hardware and applications. Analyzes, diagnoses and repairs, PBX, IP, digital and analog phone issues and work in conjunction with network administrators, vendors or contractors to resolve issues. Responsible for directing the selection, organization and planning of projects, determining the level of resources and timelines needed for each Infrastructure (including Cloud and Networking) and Telecommunications projects and tasks. Manage telecommunication’s circuits including orders and billing. Manages staff and engages as needed to ensure ITS Development works closely with other ITS staff, in-house employees, consultants, vendors or engineers. Responsible for developing, motivating, and evaluating assigned staff, and for ensuring that staff productivity and personnel morale remain high. Responsible for resolving conflicts that arise among staff members. Works directly with GC officers and department administrators to review and suggest solutions geared toward improving processes, defining procedures, solving problems and more effective use of staff. Assists in ensuring that department operates within assigned annual operating department budget. Ensures technology use is conducted in a way that meets industry best practice regarding security. Work closely with contractors and engineers in maintaining the cloud infrastructure. Works with departments to assess and meet their infrastructure/telecommunication needs. Maintains current record of entire Infrastructure, including the cloud and phone system. Responsible for assisting with department budget and financial statements. Reviews workloads, schedules, itineraries, and status of ongoing projects in order to plan activities for assigned staff. Serves on boards and committees as assigned. Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Must maintain a regular and reliable work schedule. Performs other duties as assigned.
TRAVEL DETAILS: Limited domestic travel 10% with a length of 4-5 days which covers the work week.
