TM Metal Services LLC, Boilermakers

June 24, 2025 By jobsearch

TITLE: Boilermakers

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma and 2 years of work experience in boilermaking or a similar role involving heavy metal fabrication, assembly, and repair required.

JOB DUTIES: Interpret blueprints, layout drawings, and schematics to plan and sequence work for boiler and tank construction according to vessel specifications. Use metalworking tools, including shears, rollers, and bending machines, to cut and shape metal plates into components for boiler and tank construction. Assemble parts by welding, bolting, riveting, or securing metal components using various fastening methods to create a robust, leak-free seal. Conduct preliminary inspections to ensure components are accurately assembled and meet safety and quality standards. Position, align, and install completed boiler and tank assemblies within designated areas on the ship. Secure boilers and other large vessels to the ship’s structure by welding or bolting to specified support points for stability and safety. Utilize hoisting and rigging equipment to move and position heavy parts and structures within the ship’s confines, ensuring safe and precise placement. Connect all necessary piping, valves, and fittings to integrate the boiler systems with the ship’s fuel, water, and ventilation systems. Inspect boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels for signs of wear, corrosion, or leaks, and schedule regular maintenance to prolong their lifespan. Repair damaged or worn components by welding cracks, reinforcing weak sections, and replacing defective parts or fasteners. Perform detailed testing, including hydrostatic pressure tests, to ensure vessel integrity and compliance with maritime safety standards. Troubleshoot and address issues related to pressure or performance inconsistencies, ensuring all repairs are made promptly to minimize downtime. Adhere to all OSHA and U.S. Coast Guard regulations for safety, using appropriate PPE and implementing all safety measures, particularly when working in confined spaces or with highpressure systems. Document work progress, inspections, and repairs in compliance with company protocols and industry regulations. Perform regular quality assurance checks throughout the fabrication, installation, and repair processes to ensure all work meets shipbuilding industry standards and specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and materials are safely stored and handled to prevent accidents. Coordinate with engineers, welders, and other shipbuilding specialists to align work on complex installations and repair projects. Provide technical expertise to support the shipbuilding team in diagnosing and resolving structural or mechanical challenges specific to boiler and tank systems. Act as a liaison between different departments to ensure the timely completion of projects according to shipyard production schedules. Assist in the layout and planning of new boiler installations as new ship designs are implemented. Provide training or guidance to less experienced boilermakers or welders as needed. Remain up-to-date on advancements in boilermaking technologies, materials, and shipbuilding techniques that can improve work efficiency and vessel performance.
