SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: At least 3 months of vocational training or an apprenticeship in machinery maintenance or millwrighting.

JOB DUTIES: Review blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturer’s specifications to plan and execute installation processes accurately. Perform detailed alignments and adjustments to fix issues related to vibration, noise, or fluid leaks in machinery. Conduct testing of repaired systems to verify they are fully operational before vessel deployment. Align rotating equipment, including shafts and couplings, to ensure smooth and efficient machinery operation, using precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, and alignment lasers. Perform dynamic balancing of components to reduce wear and tear on systems and increase vessel performance. Ensure alignment of propulsion shafts and steering systems, minimizing stress on components and improving handling. Work closely with other marine specialists, including welders, electricians, and engineers, to align work on complex repairs and installations. Complete detailed service reports documenting work performed, parts replaced, and any relevant measurements, aligning with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct final inspections of installed or repaired systems, ensuring they meet operational and safety standards before the vessel is returned to service.
