TITLE: Heavy Truck Driver
REQUIREMENTS: 5 years of experience operating heavy commercial vehicles.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Class A Commercial Driver License. Foreign Licenses will be accepted but candidate will be required to obtain US License if selected. Knowledge of traffic laws and DOT regulations governing heavy commercial vehicles. Experience with operating and driving heavy commercial vehicles. Experience with operating pallet jacks. Experience with lifting heavy objects of up to 80 pounds.
JOB DUTIES: Drive trucks (including tractor-trailer combinations), with gross vehicle weight of up to 80,000 lbs, to transport and deliver finished goods and raw materials to manufacturing plants or retail distribution centers over land. Freight pickups and deliveries with proper commodity securing using ropes, blocks, chains, blinders and covers. Operate pallet jacks to move loads of upto 80 lbs in and around warehouses. Plan or adjust routes based on knowledge of traffic laws and Department of Transport Rules. Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using GPS or other navigation system. Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Direct communication with dispatchers on a daily basis. Collect instructions from customers, verifying instructions and routes for freight pickup and delivery. Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes in compliance with state regulations. Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Check all load-related documentation for compliance with DOT rules. Read bills of lading to determine assignment details.
SALARY: $60,000 per year.
