TITLE: Senior Scientist
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in Marine Biology (from U.S. or foreign institution) and 4 years of experience as a Marine Biologist.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 4 years of experience conducting research at sea, analyzing data collecting using AUVs, ROVs or Scuba, collected data on benthic invertebrates, particularly either corals or sponges; experience in leading production and publication of multiple peer reviewed manuscripts.
JOB DUTIES: Assist in the design of a research plan; assist in preparations for field research at sea; participate in research cruises to test equipment and collect underwater information (approximately 3 weeks per year); assist in dockside mobilization and demobilization for cruises (approximately 10 days per year); analyze data collected particularly from underwater imagery; summarize data and conduct statistical analysis on data collected; assist in preparation of reports and peer reviewed publications. Assisting in Image and Sample Collection at Sea using AUVs and ROVs; Assisting in image and sample assessment of deep sea fauna including deep sea corals, sponges and other invertebrate and fish in imagery collected by Autonomous Underwater Vehicles and Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles; Data entry, organization, analysis, publication and presentation of information data collected on deep sea fauna; and assisting in Utilization of Automated Image Analysis Tools of images collected at sea.
